About Bittersweet Farm

Bittersweet Farm was "born" September 15, 2004, but the dream for it was planted years before. I was a hairstylist for Regis Hairstylists in Town Square, St Paul, MN until shortly after having our first baby in 1989. When I quit my job to stay home with Kayla, I took up crafting. {That was in the days of country hearts...and all things country blue and muave, remember that?}

When Kayla was 21 months, we moved from our little White Bear Lake, MN home across the river/border to Osceola, WI because {I learned} my husband really wanted to be on a hobby farm. Bad. And with only his income, we could not afford one on the MN side. We found a little place, settled in, had baby #2 (Ethan) and continued crafting.

So we sold our country shelves, furniture and my wood cut-outs at boutiques for several years, and had a few of them in our house. After four years in Osceola, life took us further into WI to Amery, where we had an "in-town" home for six years...a kind of "lay-over" until we found the farm {he} wanted {and I was content with ~I really, really liked our home in town. Especially since I grew up on a dairy farm and was done with farming in my mind. :)}

We planted our little family of four here in June of '01 and began work*work*working fixing the yard, gardens and adding on to the house and the little building that now houses the shop.

The name Bittersweet Farm came from the bittersweet we have growing up our wonderful windmill. {Photo from Kayla's wedding on the farm in '09} It was a sweet surprise to find it that first fall on the farm!! I have overcome {mostly} my fear of heights, and climb the windmill every September to gather some fresh bittersweet for you! :)

I hope you can stop in and say "Hi"!
