Tearing and Tears

Growing up on the farm, we had to say good-bye to many animals. We would fall in love with the kitties and anticipate seeing them upon our arrival to the barn every day. Inevitably  though, and almost always we would one day arrive to find the kitties gone because Petunia or some other bovine had laid down with kitties underneath and our hearts would break. Again

...Love hurts...
(and we really did this:)
Who knew that when I had a dream to open my little shop that I would have eight great years of shopping for, displaying and selling home-decorating goods, but that the best part would be spending time with the people who came in to visit?

And who knew that when the day came to close the shop (albeit that I will have future sales but not this location and not the same opportunities to connect with people as I have here) that it would feel like a tearing away from loved ones? ...and there would be tears in the tearing

I have faced this final week with some anxiety in how to navigate the emotions of my own heart as well as manage the disappointment in my loyal customers who have come to rely on Bittersweet Farm being an available stop in their journey of life. (and our loss of mutual friendship, as limited as it has been with our brief but meaningful encounters)

They are wishing me well, which I full expected from such beautiful people, but their disappointment does weigh on my heart.

Little did I know that my life would be so enriched by them. Little did I know that it wasn't really about the things we decorate with as much as the camaraderie of our desires to make our homes a blessed place to keep and entertain our families and friends.

So. My heart is full. I am so grateful for this opportunity, so thankful for the people who I have been able to connect with, and sometimes in deeper ways than I thought possible in 'a little gift-shop on a farm'.

I have hugged with encouragement, prayed for blessing, cried with sorrow, and laughed with joy in my little building. I have been rich in people-love and more rich in coming to know God's amazing love in giving me such love-wealth here.

So to my customers, THANK YOU for your kindness, and for bringing me such joy! I am so very glad that God put you in my life and the blessing you have been to me. Be sure if you are on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest that you connect with me over there-------->

What ARE our Plans?

Where are you going?
That is the question I will be asked
the most over the course
of the next two weeks...
In case you come here to the blog before you come to the Farm...We plan on being temporary "tent-dwellers" over the summer. (yes indeed!) Of course ~I~ will be here most of the time until we close and we don't know yet when that will be because our buyers are working through some things. (I will explain about that later)...

Dale is working in Montana right now on Wind Turbines. He is living in a campground in a (fortunately for me HARD SIDE "tent") camper (photo above with the Geo Tracker he hauled in the back for extra wheels when I am with him). He is also slated to go to New Mexico sometime. The paperwork is not yet complete, so we don't know timing or if it is a sure thing. All that to say we will wait until later to decide where we will live. We DO plan on staying in the Amery/ Western WI area! We love it here too much to want to go anywhere else!

So for the temporary time and the interim and the in-between...here are a few photos of his weekend exploring...who wouldn't want to spend a little bit of time hanging out here? :)

I am a bit emotional saying "good bye" to my shop, but mostly YOU my loyal friends. It has been a dream come true in so many ways. I know how much you have loved it, and like me, have a hard time saying good-bye...for that I am sorry and I want to say THANK YOU for your encouragement in visiting here and I pray we can continue our relationship in a different place in the future.

A Peek at "What's New" Today!

Upon arriving home from
driving back to WI
with my husband from Florida
(He is done working
down there! Yay!)
I found half a dozen
large boxes waiting
to be opened...
So among laundry, lawn
and other things,
I managed to get some things
unpacked and out

Isn't this sign great for
Coffee Lovers?
 Add beautiful COLOR
to your decor
with these stone vases.
And with birds
all the rage for summer...

If you are a Pinterest fan

Weekend Inspiration

Don't you just LOVE the sunshine?
I have been busy cleaning out the perennial beds,
and bringing some summer things out to the shop...
What have you been working on?

I took a few photos to inspire you and enable you to
visualize items in your home
...Birds are the thing for summer...
and of course flowers!
I will have several shipments coming in
over the next few weeks so stay tuned!!!
Nestle a bird into a sprig and set in your porch
or entryway to tweet a little "hi" to your guests!
Honor a friend with an expression of your love. <3
This house lights up. Could be in a covered porch,
a screen porch or any room in the house for a warm
glow...lights are on, we are home!!!

A couple of summer arrows. I also have
an American flag and a Welcome sign!

New coasters and trivets...the set of benches
can be used as a stack or scatter them for a raised
display on a buffet or a countertop!

A trio of stars would look wonderful with framed
family photos on a buffet or bookshelf.
Only one sunflower dishtowel left and inside
the little cabinet is a sunflower spoon rest~darling~!
I love this distressed bowl. You could use it for
serving or for displaying bird-eggs!
Safely light up a corner with either
of these wall sconces.
One holds votives and whatever you may
want underneath for color...
Below, you see a full sized candle.
