A Time For Decisions

I am not a decisive person. I am a 'weigher', a deliberator, a cautious personality. Thankfully I married a risk-taking decisive, and driven man to balance me out. I have expressed on more than one occasion that I would never have had the guts to start a business if not for my years of having my fears refuted by being married to Dale...I learned that I could survive taking risks...and thrive!
(I also must mention my parents who
invested immensely in my life, health,
and in my business financially~
I am blessed and so very grateful!!!)
On September 15, 2004 I opened Bittersweet Farm, the little gift shop on our farm. It has been a great adventure. I have enjoyed every day of this experience, with the exception of the packing-peanuts. (I recall feeling the same way about rolling perms in my first career!)

It has been nearly eight great years, and it is time for me to make a decision. Actually I have been deliberating over this  for the past two years... and its time to admit that those two have been financially challenging for the shop. With my husband's work circumstances, our lifestyle changes, and now with the sale of the farm, I have come to a decision. I have weighed options for moving on in another way, like renting space in town, but have discovered it just wouldn't be smart financially at this time.

So with all that, I have decided to finalize the closing of Bittersweet Farm. It is time to say
My plan is to close out fall merchandise over the next two weeks, then take a few weeks to put the Christmas merchandise out and close out the Christmas merchandise in October...

Autumn in August?

All my perennials are a month ahead of schedule. It seemed like we had August in July here in Wisconsin...what a hot and sticky month I heard it was!!! But I was in Montana more than I was here I think. It seems only fitting that Bittersweet Farm would have Autumn in August!
The mountains of Montana have been delightfully beautiful...and the traveling and waiting part, well...it's just odd. I have had round-trips every month this year! And to think that my very first-ever flight was fall of 2003! Life is full of surprises, right? I once was a timid and shy home-body. But I married Adventure and I've learned to love it!

I fly out tomorrow on a one-way, but we are not staying in Montana, though we considered that for it's beauty...the real estate there is not right. Too much for too little...Plus, we live here. We love it here. Our family and friends are here. It's home! And now, my man has garnered a job AT HOME in MPLS!!! Life should take on a more predictable rhythm in the days to come.

Oh wait, we still have to close on the farm. We are still waiting for our buyers to bring us their paperwork. It has been slow, but it has worked well for me. I've been able to go through my attic and closets without feeling under-the-gun. Now that Dale will be home, we can work at it all together. We are trusting that God has a plan for where we will land, and are looking forward to the house-hunt!
So...
I IMAGINE YOU ASKING...
WHAT ABOUT BITTERSWEET FARM???

(That is the last Friday and Saturday
of August.....from 10-4!)

The sale will be:
20% OFF OF EVERYTHING!
